My Experience with "Dead City" by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant

FULL DISCLOSURE: I currently work for the company that published this book. However, I’m not paid to talk about any of their books. I read this because I was curious.

I read the occasional thriller novel. I prefer Fantasy and Science Fiction, but thrillers can be fun too (especially if they take place in an SFF world). I read this because it’s a zombie story that isn’t your typical zombie story. It’s described as a “Walking Dead meets All The President’s Men” technothriller. I’ll give that a shot.

Platt and Truant did a great job on this one. It's definitely more conspiracy thriller than zombie book. The zombie part is almost incidental—window dressing if you will. The most compelling parts were about Ian and how a conspiracy he’s trying to keep out of is pulling his family apart.

I’d give this five stars if this story floored me with a surprise, but I think this is only the first book in a 3-book series. And the way it ends leaves a lot of room for future surprises. Seems like book 2 will be epic. I’m hoping it is.

Try it if you want a conspiracy thriller with zombie elements. You won’t put it down.
